The first post is for a vote on a header for the blog (yes, I made them all) and Les, I am not getting credit for designing them, but it would be really cool if I did. 


This morning I woke up to a snowstorm. I was extremely tempted to get back into bed and sleep till I had to go to work, but I got up and got ready. I waited at the bus stop (I ride the bus sometimes, it's pretty fun) for a few minutes and by the time I got on the bus, I was covered in snow. Of course I would be traveling when the snow was coming down the most. Then, the bus driver accidentally ran a red light because he couldn't stop in time. The bus almost missed the connections at the depot. The bus was SUPER crowded this morning. If you have a people problem, then riding the bus in the winter is not for you. The bus lady was driving up to campus on 10th north and multiple cars were sliding down the hill and it was a mess. My second bus driver of the day told us all to say "I think I can... I think I can... I think I can..." when we were going up 8th east (and that was even worse then 10th north with the cars sliding). And it worked! The bus finally made it campus and she told us to cheer for her since she was the best bus driver we've had that day! I was cracking up. It was a very eventful morning. 

What a Week...

Second week of grad school... whoa. Life is GOOD.


This has been a crazy but great week. It's amazing how things fall into place when you least expect it. 


I have the opportunity to be a "lab assistant" in one of my classes to help those who are not familiar with iMovie with their projects. It makes me feel good to know that my knowledge will help others.


My mind is filling up with more knowledge and skills... I LOVE IT!


Also, I am going to be starting a new part-time job. I am pretty excited about it. Good things really do come to those who wait. I feel much better about my finances and putting myself through grad school... it will still be tough, but I know everything will work out in the end. 


Working two jobs, going to grad school, continuing with my church calling, homework, and trying to be social will make this semester very interesting and busy. I love being busy!!! 


Here goes week three of grad school!!! Oh, and yeah... I'm a nerd.

I SURVIVED!

I started graduate school last week.


And I survived. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It feels great to be back in school and learning new things. I am going to enjoy these classes. I guess that's what happens when you are "out of sequence" in your program... you get to take the fun classes first! 


I am taking a course about Flash, one about HTML/CSS, and one learning a few different programs, like iMovie, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop. So much fun!!!


I got to write a haiku in one of my classes for fun (5-7-5 syllable poem)...

the winter cold bites

nose, ears, toes frozen on me

summer come quickly

I love school! I am such a nerd. It will be hard at times, but I am pretty sure I am going to love it.

I also went for a jog/walk this week and it felt great to be outside and exercising!!! My left leg still is giving me issues, but I hope it gets better before Ragnar... yep, you read that correctly... I am doing Ragnar again this year, except we are doing the Northwest Passage Ragnar in Washington this year. WOO HOO!

It's a New Year

This will be a long post...

Well folks, this year has started off pretty darn great. I got to be in Washington for New Year's and I was with my family. What more could I want? Anyway, we took a little trip down to Oregon... Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Portland. It was a fun vacation within a vacation. We stopped at the Costco in Seaside for lunch and then headed to Cannon Beach.

For once it wasn't too windy on the beach and we got there as the sun was setting. We had a lot of fun taking photos and being with each other.

I got some nice pictures of the sun setting and of Haystack Rock... and did some cartwheels.

After playing on the beach, we headed to Bruce's Candy Kitchen and then to Pizza a'fetta for dinner. It's probably the best pizza crust out there... just sayin'.

Finally, we headed to Portland to the Embassy Suites to stay for the night. We played Things (it's a hilarious game that I recommend playing in a large group) and hunkered down for the night. I slept on couch cushions in my footie pjs. Then we got up for the continental breakfast. After eating and getting ready for the day, we headed to the mall in Tigard and shopped. We were all shopped out (at least Tony was), so we headed back to University Place for our New Year's Eve celebration. 

It was very low-key and mellow. We were having a tough time staying awake, so we played Farkle and Uno. We did make it and banged pots and pans at midnight. Then we all promptly went to bed. We were exhausted from our mini vacation. New Year's Day we went on a walk around Chambers Bay. Leslie and I looked like we were could be in Tron (thank you black running leggings and awesome thumb hole jacket from Costco). We got to go across the bridge to the beach and play on the driftwood and throw rocks. It was pretty rad. 

That concludes my Washington trip for the holidays. It was extremely fun and interesting. This year will start another chapter of my life... GRAD SCHOOL! Wish me luck! I also get to start training for my second Ragnar race: The Northwest Passage. I sure hope my left leg will cooperate with me. If you made it through this post, I commend you.
